      Resource Regulation

Ms. MacLachlan's experience includes:

  • experience as a member of regulatory tribunals that issue licences for resource extractive industries at facility operations (NWT Water Board, Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission);
  • preparing senior managers of mining companies and their environmental consultants for environmental impact hearings, including chairing mock hearings (Miramar Mining Corporation for Doris North, Nunavut (2004); De Beers for Snap Lake, NWT (2002 and 2003); Tahera for the Jericho Project, Nunavut (2003); INCO for Voisey's Bay, Newfoundland (1998-1999); Canadian Pacific Railway for a new rail line in central Alberta (1998);
  • Representing clients at environmental and regulatory hearings for project licencing (Tahera, 2004; Canadian Pacific Railway, 1998) and before the Environmental Appeal Board (Talisman Energy, 1998; TransAlta Utilities, 1998);
  • Identifying the federal, provincial and municipal requirements for the development of, expansion or decommissioning of facilities such as heavy oil sands operations, gas fired and hydro electric plants, military bases and mining operations.
